Kofi Annan condemns Lanka terrorist bombing
New York, June 27: UN Secretary General Kofi Annan today condemned the bomb attack in Sri Lanka yesterday that killed the country's Deputy Army Chief and three other Army officers and called on all sides to return to the negotiating table.
Asserting that no cause could justify such acts of violence, the Secretary General appealed to the parties to redouble their efforts to resume peace talks under the facilitation of the Norwegian Government.
Referring to negotiations between the Government and the LTTE, a statement issued on behalf of the Secretary General said Mr. Annan and other high-level UN officials had repeatedly called for an end to such killings and a return to peace talks.
