KFCC elections put off, amidst confusion
Bangalore, June 27 (UNI) The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce's (KFCC) election and AGM, scheduled for July one, has been put off to August due to confusion over the by-laws to be followed and objections raised by subordinate bodies over the domination of producers in the film chamber.
Briefing newspersons about the postponement here today, KFCC President H D Gangaraju said the election process, which had begun with filing and scrutiny of nominations, had been caught in legal wrangles over the contentious issue of by-laws to be followed in electing the office bearers. While KFCC was following the rules drafted in 2001, some members insisted that the by-laws incorporated during the 2004 EGM should be taken into consideration.
''The elections will now be held in the month of August as we need 15 days time to call the Executive Committee meeting and 21 days notification for holding the election. We assure that the elections will be held in a transparent manner,'' he said.
Representatives of the Exhibitors and Distributors' Associations contended that the rule of one-person-one-post was not being strictly followed as office bearers of Producers' Associations wanted to hold dual posts, both in their association and the KFCC.
They demanded that the by-laws adopted in the 2004 meeting should be strictly followed and sufficient representations be provided to exhibitors and distributors to bring an end to the domination of producers over KFCC.
