HC for community opinion on ''sacred evil''

Mumbai, Jun 27 (UNI) Bombay High Court today directed the Censor Board to seek opinion of two members of the Christian community on a film alleged to contain scenes that hurt their religious sentiments, before clearing it for screening.

A division bench comprising Justices F I Rebello and V K Tahilramani, while disposing of a petition filed by city-based lawyer Gerry Cohelo seeking ban on the controversial English movie 'Sacred Evil', directed that the Censor Board should invite two respectable members of the Christian community to view the movie and then decide upon its certification for public viewing.

The court also held that the association of films, which regulates the posters of a movie, should ensure that the posters do not contain shots which have been deleted by the Censor Board.

The petitioner had alleged that the film 'Sacred Evil' contained shots which hurt to the religious sentiments of Christian community and its posters also depicted some ''objectionable'' shots which were not a part of the movie.
