Medical board satisfied with Shahabuddin's treatment
Patna, June 26 (UNI) A medical board constituted by the Bihar government to examine the incarcerated RJD MP Mohammad Shahabuddin's health, has found his spinal chord disorder problem was 'not very acute' and expressed satisfaction over the line of treatment provided to him inside Siwan jail.
Quoting the report of the medical board, state home secretary Afzal Amanullah today said the MP's spinal chord problem was not so acute and the treatment being provided to him inside the jail was satisfactory.
He ruled out the possibility of shifting Md Shahabuddin outside jail for treatment.
Mr Amanullah said a five-member medical board had examined the RJD MP inside Siwan jail on Friday following his complaint of acute pain in spinal chord due to 'slip disc' disorder.
On return to Patna, the medical team submitted the report to the health secretary who had subsequently sent it to him, Mr Amanullah stated.
'' Though I have not gone through the entire report, its initial findings suggest that Shahabuddin's problem was not of serious nature'', he added.
Copies of the findings of the medical team would be sent to the Centre as well as the National Human Rights Commission(NHRC), he maintained.
Earlier, Shahabuddin's wife had petitioned before the NHRC demanding its intervention in saving her husband's life as he was reportedly facing severe spinal chord problem.
RJD president and railway minister Lalu Prasad also complained of 'callousness' of the state government towards the jailed MP's health problems.
