Jodhpur, June 26: A local court today issued a notice to Bollywood actor Salman Khan for filing a false affidavit in connection with his gun licence in the illegal arms case.

The prosecution filed an appeal in the court saying Salman lied to the court about his gun licence. The prosecution said that when the court had asked Salman to submit the licence for his gun used in the poaching case, he had said his licence was lost.

The prosecution says Salman had filed a report before Mumbai police saying he has lost his gun licence. But actually went ahead and filed an application for renewal for his licence in Mumbai soemtime later. The prosecution now wants a case of perjury against Salman under Section 340 of Indian Penal Code.

The court of Magistrate Dalpat Singh Rajpurohit has asked the defence counsel to submit a reply by July 10.
