Diphu, Asom, June 26 (UNI) The NDFB today threatened to pull out of the ceasefire agreement with the Centre after two of its cadres were allegedly shot dead by police in Karbi Anglong district.

Two National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) militants were shot dead by police at about 1130 hours when they had come to demand money from a businessman at Langding Tiniali under Howraghat police station.

The businessman, who had allegedly received extortion demand from the NDFB, was slated to meet the two slain ultras at Goroimari stadium of the area at 1100 hours.

On being intimated by the businessman, police rounded up the place after the ultras reached the spot.

Police claimed that the militants were shot after half-a-km chase, while the NDFB alleged that they were shot after being taken captive.

Police said two Chinese-made grenades and a mobile phone were recovered from them.

NDFB district commandant D Gakrup said the group would be forced to 'retaliate' if the police continued its 'atrocities'.

''We will be forced to walk out of the ceasefire if the police continued its atrocities on our cadres,'' he said.

Meanwhile, additional forces were rushed to the spot after tension brewed following the incident.

The NDFB was in a ceasefire with the Centre since the past one year with the tenure being extended by another six months, beginning this month.
