Woman swallowed 320 condoms of drugs-Australia police

SYDNEY, June 25 (Reuters) A woman who police allege swallowed 320 condoms full of heroin appeared in an Australian court on drugs charges today.

The 25-year-old Australian woman was stopped by Customs officials after she got off a flight from Singapore on June 18 on suspicion that she was concealing drugs internally, an Australian Federal Police spokeswoman said.

She was handed over to police and then taken to hospital, where she was kept until all the drug-filled condoms had passed out of her system.

The woman made a bail appearance in court today and remained in custody, the spokeswoman said.

The charge of importing a commercial quantity of banned drugs could carry a maximum sentence of life in prison.
