Reconsider sale of NLC stake, MK tells PM

Chennai, June 25 : Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today asked the Centre to reconsider its decision to sell ten per cent equity stake in the public sector Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC).

In a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, a copy of which was released to the press here this morning, Mr Karuananidhi said the opposition to the decision to divest the stake cannot be ignored.

''Any deviation from the accepted common minimum programme (CMP), whatever reasons we may give, would amount to diluting the agreed principles.

''Therefore this decision to disinvest be reconsidered,'' Mr Karunanidhi said.
