Mah earned Rs 700 cr after ban on country liquor shops
Mumbai, June 25 (UNI) Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil today said that the state government has earned Rs 700 crore additional revenue after banning country liquor shops in the state.
Speaking at the inaugural function of Central Laboratory of the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) at Navi Mumbai and the foundation laying of a drinking water pipeline from Kalamboli to Digha, Mr Patil stated that last years's hooch tragedy which killed 100 people, compelled the government to clamp a ban on country liquor shops in the state.
He said that the government does not wish to run the state with the income of the Liquor.
He stated that violence, including that against women and domestic violence has decreased by 40 per cent in the state after the ban.
