Haryana to spend Rs 1,058 crore on roads, bridges
Chandigarh, June 25 (UNI) The Haryana government will spend about Rs 1,058 crore on development of roads, bridges and buildings during the current financial year, an official spokesman said here today.
The state government had allocated Rs 695 crore for the same purpose during the last financial year.
The spokesman said during the current financial year, developmental work on 6083 km of roads would be taken up as against 4095 km roads covered during the last financial year.
Therefore, a target to construct 88 km-long new roads, to wide and strengthen 1,804 km roads and undertake 3,156 km road length has been fixed. Side drains over a length of 229 km would be constructed and 30 km of road length be raised, he said.
The spokesman said concrete pavements would be laid over a length of 191 km in case of villages along main roads and 40 km of long roads would be reconstructed.
Similarly, 300 km-length of state highways and 245 km of National Highways would be improved during this financial year.
He said a target has been fixed for upgradation of 1,147 km- long rural roads under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojna during this financial year.
The project to upgrade 618.83 km roads at a cost of about of Rs 200 crore has been approved and tenders were being invited for the same, he said.
The spokesman said about 150 km-long road length would be upgraded at a cost of Rs 56.65 crore during the current financial year under the Central Road Fund Scheme.
''Three more schemes, involving an investment of Rs 35 crore, are under the consideration of the Central government and more schemes costing Rs 50 crore will be submitted shortly for approval.'' He said the Union government has also approved ''four laning'' of National Highway 71-A from Panipat to Rohtak and of National Highway 71 from Rohtak to Bawal.
National Highway, 73-A Jagadhari-Chhachhrauli-Ponta Sahib of Haryana portion was being entrusted to the State government.
The spokesman said National Highway No 10, ''four laning'' from Delhi border to Rohtak with by-passes at Bahadurgarh and Rohtak, has been approved for which bids have been invited.
While giving details of the works of National Highways, he said that in case of National Highway No 1, ''six laning'' from 44.30 km to 86 km has been allotted by the National Highway Authority of India and work for this has already started from 86 km to 96 km with an elevated Highway of 3.408 km at Panipat.
Also, in case of National Highway No 21 and 22, the work was in progress for ''four laning'' from Ambala to Zirakpur which included elevated portion of 1.265 km at Baldev Nagar, Ambala City, the spokesman added.
Bids have also been invited for ''four laning'' of National Highway 22 from Zirakpur to Parwanoo, he said.
