E-governance: IBM joins hands with UP
Lucknow, June 25 (UNI) Technology bellwether, IBM has signed an MoU with the Uttar Pradesh government to give impetus to e-governance by providing quality training to IT students under an ambitious programme titled Project INVITE.
IBM will shortlist leading universities and IT institutions in the state and generate a student mass of 50,000, who would then be put into a ''mentoring'' (training) process.
The student would be involved in creating prototype solutions for local e-governance needs at various levels such as public grievances information system and civic bodies.
''Project INVITE will take off from the next academic session,'' Ms Zohra Chatterjee, principal secretary, IT department, told UNI here today.
On his Lucknow visit during 'UP IT Expo Infocom 2K6', IBM Country Chief, Satish Kaushal had said the company would also conduct technical seminars and workshops to benefit IT professionals, entrepreneurs and teachers.
''An IBM India programme, Project INVITE (Initiative to Nurture a Vibrant IT Ecosystem) complements the IBM academic initiative to groom IT students as a more competitive workforce.'' INVITE is aimed at actively contributing to capacity building efforts in identified Indian states by enhancing the local talent pool, which would make these states attractive for IT investments.
