CM assures farmers of adequate power for paddy crop

Panipat, June 25 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today assured the farmers of adequate supply of electricity for irrigating paddy crops.

The Chief Minister while addressing a public meeting at Samalakha in the district said electricity would even be purchased from other states at any rate so that the consumers in the state did not suffer.

He said the power generation in the state would increase to 9,000 MW in the next three years from the present 4,000 MW. Thereafter, power would be available for 20 to 22 hours in rural areas, he added. Steps were taken by the Chief Minister to purchase electricity from Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh so as to safeguard the interest of the farmers.

He said a new 220 KV substation would be set up at Samalkha and its construction would commence next month. Another substation of an equal capacity would be set up at village Chajpur he said and added that the Reliance Industries, which was setting up a special economic zone, would also set up a 2,000 MW power plant.

Apart from ensuring adequate supply of power, steps have also been taken for equitable distribution of water, Mr Hooda said.

The Rs 270 crore Dadupur-Nalvi canal would benefit farmers in the areas of Kurukshetra, Ambala and Yamunanagar districts. and the Hansi-Bhutana link canal project would benefit the people in Southern Haryana, he noted.

While reiterating the commitment of the state government not to let Haryana become a shelter for criminals, Mr Hooda said corruption also will not be would also not be tolerated.

While referring to the police recruitment, he said those found giving or accepting bribe would be dealt with sternly.

He urged the Members of Parliament and Legislators to give due regard to the workers of the party. At the same time, he called upon the workers to apprise the people of the achievements of the state government.

While referring to the demands put up by Samalkha MLA Bharat Singh Chokhar, Mr Hooda said the work to construct mini secretariat at Samalkha would commence in the next two months. A sports stadium and a memorial of martyrs would also be constructed. A sum of Rs 8.10 crore have been sanctioned for implementation of sewerage and drainage schemes in Samalkha, he added.

He said the Government has decided to construct concrete pavements in all big villages.

The people at the rally also raised their hands to convey to the Chief Minister that the properties of former Chief Minister Om Parkash Chautala valued at Rs 1467 crore identified by the CBI should be distributed among the people.
