Chopra soars to tied third at Booz Allen Classic
Washington, June 25 (UNI) Daniel Chopra continued with his excellent form, carding a five-under 67, to rise to the tied third spot after the penultimate round of the five million dollar Booz Allen Classic in Potomac, Maryland.
The Indian-born Swede fired five birdies against a solitary bogey to raise his total to four-under 201 after three rounds. Chopra is now seven shots behind leader Ben Curtis of America.
He got off to a brilliant start and hit two successive birdies on the first and second and kept it level-par for the rest of his front-nine.
His back-nine also started with a brace of birdies on the 11th and 12th followed by another on the 15th. But the brilliant show ended on a disappointing note when he stumbled on the 17th before signing off with an even-par shot.
At the top of the leaderboard, Curtis regained the sole lead after carding a bogey-free five-under 67. The American has hit only one bogey in the three rounds so far and looks set to win his first PGA Tour title in three years having taken a five-shot lead -- with a three-day total of 194 -- over nearest challenger compatriot Brett Quigley, who also carded a 67 to take the tied second spot.
Earlier, Arjun Atwal failed to make the cut by a single shot despite putting up an good performance.
