Villagers block road demanding release of a Maoist
Lohardaga, Jun 24 (UNI) Agitated over the arrest of a CPI(Maoist) extremist, local villagers blocked the main road last night disrupting traffic to Ranchi, Daltonganj and Gumla, police today said.
Vijendra Pahan was accused of burning porcelain and dumpers near the Hindalco bauxite mines under Kisko police station last year.
However, the agitating villagers claimed that Pahan was innocent and demanded his release, the sources said.
Earlier, agitators also protested before Deputy Commissioner's office. The Suprintendent of Police and other officers tried to pacify the villagers.
