Undertrial woman prisoner commits suicide in Vadodara jail
Vadodara, June 24 (UNI) A 45-year-old undertrial woman prisoner, who was lodged in the Vadodara central jail along with her husband and eldest son in a murder case, today committed suicide by hanging herself from the door hook of her cell.
According to jail superintendent K G Bhatti, deceased Madhuben Parmar, her husband Babu Parmar and their eldest son Mukesh, residents of Savli, were remanded to Vadodara jail about a couple of months ago for allegedly killing their daughter-in-law. The trio were changed under sections 302, 498 (a), 201 and 114 of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Madhuben, who was reportedly suffering from depression for the last several days, was found hanging from the hook of the six-foot high door in the female ward where she was lodged, he said.
The woman was declared dead at about 1000 hrs by the jail doctor.
Her body has been sent for post-mortem, he said and added further investigations are on.
