Trinamool's chakka jam disrupts traffic
Kolkata, Jun 24 (UNI) Vehiculalar traffic in the city remained disrupted for more than an hour today following a 'chakka jam' movement by the Trinamool Congress in protest against oil price hike.
Trinamool Congress workers put up road blocks in different busy intersections of the city this afternoon forcing vehicles to come to a halt.
Demanding the state Government reduce sales tax and abolish cess on petrol to lessen the burden of the price rise, the agitators also burnt an effigy of Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee.
Trinamool leaders threatened that the party would go for an intensified agitation if their demand was not met.
