Mr Rathod said, Patel was being questioned after the murder of Trivedi as the former got in touch with 'Didi,' who was in London at the time of murder.
Police is also questioning the prominent leaders of the Swadhyay Parivar as its interanl power politics is allegedly to be the most probable cause for the brutal killing of Trivedi.
The NRI US businessman was murdered by four unidentified goons in an assualt with baseball bats and sticks when Trivedi came out from Ellibridge Gymkhana in posh Ellisbridge area of the city on June 15.
Meanwhile, unconfirmed reports say that 'Didi' is likely to arrive in the city from New Delhi by an evening flight.
The investigation officer also said besides Patel, another seven to eight persons who were attached to Parivar were also questioned by the police.
Mr Rathod said those interrogated, claimed that they are innocent and their names were dragged into the case by the rival groups with a clear intention just to harass and defame them.
''So far, nobody has been detained or arrested in connection with the murder, but, more peole are likely to be questioned in next few days,'' the police officer said.
City Police Commissioner K R Kaushik has also declared a cash rewards of Rs one lakh to any person providing a clue in solving the mystery behind the murder of Trivedi.
Mr Kaushik has also assured the informer that his/her identity will be kept secret.
US NRI businessman was staying in a bunglaow at Satyagrah Chhavni Society in Satellite locality of the city, while his wife and two sons have been staying in Cincinnati, in the US. Trivedi had migrated to America nine years ago, but had returned to India last year.
Incidentally, Trivedi was arrested by Rajkot police along with some others around Diwali festival last year after a scuffle took place between two groups of the Swadhyay Parivar.
