SSP starts trial run of 6x200 MW turbines on Narmada river
Ahmedabad, June 24 (UNI) Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today kick-started the trial run of six turbines of 6x200 megawatt capacity at the Sardar Sarovar Project (SSP) dam power station on the River Narmada at Kevadia colony, near Madhya Pradsh border, this evening.
The turbines will be continuously run for 72 hours under observation for synchronisation, said a release here today.
Mr Modi also visited the tourist spots overlooking the reservoir.
The multi-purpose inter-state project is being built by Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Limited (SSNL), a wholly-owned company of Gujarat Government.
When completed, the Narmada canal network is scheduled to take the waters up to Rajasthan.
