Olympic run held in Andhra Rajahmundry
Rajahmundry, June 24: Over 1300 school and college students besides sports personalities, participated in the Olympic run from Subramanya Maidan to Government Arts College Grounds to mark the anniversary of the first Olympics in 1894 today. Sub-collector K Sasidhar lit the Olympic torch to mark the start of the event and then also ran along.
The run was conducted by the East Godavari District Olympic Association (DOA) and footballers of yesteryears were felicitated by the district football association to comemmorate the ongoing football World Cup - A Aruldas, A Appala Reddy, M V Raghavulu, M Channakesava Rao, P Rambabu, S S Ali, Swamy Naidu and Dhabala Raju.
Similar runs were also held at Kakinada, Amalapuram, Razole, Ramachandrapuram, Pitapuram, Samalkot, Pedapuram and Annavaram, according to Dr S Swaminadu, Vice-President, DOA.
