Soccer-World-Heat is on for England game

STUTTGART, June 24 (Reuters) Temperatures in Stuttgart could climb to 34 Celsius tomorrow for England's World Cup second round match against Ecuador, a leading German meteorologist said today.

''It can't be ruled out that Sunday in Stuttgart could be the hottest day of the World Cup,'' ARD televison weatherman Joerg Kachelmann told Reuters.

''It could hit 34 degrees with a chance of severe thunderstorms in the evening. It's going to be a scorcher.'' England coaches and players had complained about the high temperatures in their opening match against Paraguay on June 10 in Frankfurt.

Kachelmann said temperatures would likely be slightly cooler after Sunday, falling to between 25 and 28 C. But it would likely remain warm for the next week at least.

''There is no end to the German summer in sight,'' he said.
