Senderos likely to miss Ukraine game

HANOVER, June 24 (Reuters) Switzerland central defender Philippe Senderos is unlikely to play in the World Cup second round match against Ukraine next week after suffering a bad shoulder injury, coach Kobi Kuhn said.

''It doesn't look good for the next match, it is very doubtful,'' he told reporters ahead of Monday's clash.

''He pulled his shoulder out of place and it has been pushed back in, but there is ligament damage. We will asess him in the morning and look at it again, but it is not too good at the moment,'' he added.

Senderos went off in the second half and his arm was in a sling as he sat on the bench at the end of the game.

He headed Switzerland's first goal in a 2-0 win over South Korea, but suffered a bad head wound in the process, needing treatment for a cut after a clash of heads.

''He would be a huge loss for us and is an immense part of our team, but injuries are part and parcel of the tournament,'' Kuhn said.

''Everybody can have injuries and (they) cannot be used as an excuse.'' Senderos remained optimistic, though, giving journalists a thumbs-up sign as he left the stadium.

''It came out, but now it is back in, it's ok but we will just have to see,'' he said.
