SAAP to provide facilities to Cycling Academy

Hyderabad, June 24 (UNI) Vice-chairman and managing director of Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) G Kamala Vardhana Rao today said the members of the AP Cycling Academy would be provided with all facilities to improve their talent.

Congratulating the medal winners of the Track National Cycling Championships, who bagged 12 medals- two golds, four silver and six bronze, he said the SAAP would provide a Gym and a balance diet for the academy members. The meet was held at Bijapur from June 16 to 21.

Claiming that the academy had obtained 31 medals right from its inception in 2001 in different events, Mr Rao said it had already trained 40 cyclists.

Laying down the objectives, he said the academy aimed at revamping sports and games in the state to produce talented youth to compete at national and international levels.

There are 26 academies in different disciplines in 18 districts in the state.

Mr Rao said the SAAP was extending intensive coaching with latest training methods, equipments and playing facilities by providing free coaching, sports infrastructure, nutritious food, accommodation and kits right from the admission into local educational institutions.
