Rs 74 crore sanctioned for flouride mitigation in Rajasthan
Jaipur, June 24 (UNI) The state government has sanctioned Rs 74.06 crores for the Rajasthan Integrated Flouride Mitigation Programme which will provide safe and clean drinking water to 5,056 villages.
Water Resources minister Prof Sanwar Lal Jat said that 2,643 villages and dhanis having more than five ppm flouride in that water have benefitted from the scheme in the first phase.
But there are still 5,056 villages which have more than three ppm flouride in water left, which will benefit in the second phase,'' he added.
Rajasthan is the most flouride affected state in the country. The excess quantity of flouride in water leads to flourosis which affects bones and teeth.
The sanction was made in the policy planning committee meeting of the PHED held under the chairmanship of Mr Jat yesterday.
