Rs 192 crore plan to improve water and sewerage system in NCR

Chandigarh, June 24 (UNI) The National Captial Region Planning Board has sanctioned a Rs 192 crore project to improve water supply and sewerage system in the towns of Hodal, Sohna, Palwal, Rewari, Rohtak, Panipat, Gohana and Samalkha in Haryana.

The project would be completed by February, 2009, a spokesman of the Haryana Public Health Department today said.

He said under another NCR Planning Board Project, Rs 71.54 crore would be spent to augment water supply in the towns of Sonipat, Rewari, Rohtak, Jhajjar and Gurgaon.

Various sewerage schemes being implemented in the towns of Gurgaon, Sonipat and Rohtak would be completed by October this year, he said. A Rs 16 crore project was being implemented in Hisar to improve the water supply and sewerage, which would be completed by January, 2008.

Under Accelerated Urban Water Supply Programme, schemes estimated at Rs 76.69 crore had been approved to raise water supply status to 70 LPCD in 38 towns.

While the schemes have been completed in 22 towns, these would be completed in remaining 16 towns by the end of this financial year.

Fifty per cent of the expenditure of the project is being borne by the state government and remaining by the Central government, he added.
