Police siezes vehicles carrying illicit sand

Tiruvalur, Jun 24 (UNI) Police today seized eight vehicles transporting illicit sand and registered a case under IPC 379 against the owners of the vehicles here.

According to police, a team led by Tiruvalur Superintendent of Police J Rajendran following orders of Tiruvalur District Collector Ranveer Prasad today conducted a raid and seized the vehicles.

This is for the first time the police had registered a case against the vehicle owners. Normally the cases were registered against the driver of the vehicle, the police added.
