Monsoon active over coastal Karnataka in State

Bangalore, June 24 (UNI) Following is the summary of observations recorded in weather office here at 0830 hrs today.

Karwar recorded exceptionally very heavy rainfall of 34 cms.

Other Very heavy rainfall amounts(cm): Kollur 21, Udupi 20, Ankola 19, Agumbe 17, Mangalore AP, Panambur, Bhagamandala, Karkala 13 each.

Heavy rainfall amounts (cm): Mudibidre 12, Belthangadi, Belgaum City 11 each, Bantwal 10, Kundapur, Mangalore 8 each, Kumta, Virajpet 7 each.

Other Chief rainfall amounts (cm): Mani, Dharmasthala, Bhatkal, Kammardi 6 ecah, Mulki, Shirali, Honavar, Hadagalli 5 each.

Forecast valid until the Monday morning: Rain/thundershowers likely to occur at most places over Coastal Karnataka and at many places over Interior Karnataka.

Farmers Weather Bulletin: Heavy to very heavy rain likely to occur at most places over all the districts of Coastal Karnataka and Belgaum district of North Interior Karnataka. Moderate to heavy rain likely to occur at many places over ghat areas of South Interior Karnataka, Dharwad, Bijapur, Bagalkote distyricts of North Interior Karnataka and at a few places over remaining districts of North Interior Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka.

Outlook for subsequent two days: Heavy rainfall warning: Heavy to very heavy rain may occur at a few places over Coastal Karnataka during next 48 hours. Heavy rain may also occur at isolated places over the ghat areas of South Interior Karnataka and Belgaum district of North Interior Karnataka during same period.

Forecast for Bangalore city: Generally cloudy. One or two spells of light rain towards evening/night. Strong surface winds, gusty at times.
