Lifer woman commits suicide in jail

Dholpur, June 24: A 21-year old woman serving life imprisonment at Dholpur District Jail committed suicide today morning, police sources said.

According to police sources, Kiran Lodha hanged herself from the ceiling of her jail room, with her saree, once her two room inmates left for their court hearings.

Deputy district magistrate A.A Bunkar reached the jail on hearing about the incident and ordered an inquiry into the incident.

Last week, a fast track court had sentenced Kiran to life imprisonment for killing her mother-in-law with a hammer.

Kiran's mother-in-law was said to be angry with her as Kiran's brother-in-law used to visit them frequently. She used to scold and quarrel with Kiran over the issue. Upset over her mother-in-law's behaviour towrds her, Kiran attacked and killed her.
