Srinagar, June 24 (UNI) A local court today extended the CBI remand of former Jammu and Kashmir minister Ghulam Ahmad Mir and Raman Mattoo till June 26.

Both the ministers were produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) here this afternoon by the CBI as their earlier remand expired today.

Lawyers in the Kashmir valley has decided not to plead the cases of accused persons involved in the sex racket that rocked the Kashmir Valley forcing Jammu and Kashmir government to hand over the case to CBI.

Mir, is a Congress Legislator from Dooru constituency and Raman Mattoo, was elected from Habba Kadal seat as an independent candidate.

Mir was arrested from Delhi while Mattoo was taken into custody from his Gupkar house after their names figures in the list of those involved in the sex scandal.

The scandal surfaced last month after residents of Habba Kadal in the old city lodged a complaint with the police that some people were forcing minor girls to pose in blue films and endulge in flesh trade.

It was only after police investigated the case that the involvement of former ministers, politicians, BSF and police officials and businessmen was established.

The CBI, earlier in the day produced challan against nine accused in the CJM court.
