Election to DGHC after implementation of Sixth Schedule

Darjeeling, June 24 (UNI) Election to the Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council (DGHC) will be finalised after implementation of the Sixth Schedule in the state Assembly.

This was decided by DGHC chairman and Gorkha National Liberation Front (GNLF) chief Subash Ghishing and West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya.

Mr Bhattacharya said the demarcation of the council will be finalised on July 3 in Kolkata, in front of Mr Ghishing.

The Chief Minister said the decision of election would not be taken until the Bill was passed in the Assembly. He met the GNLF chief today at Darjeeling to decide on implementation of sixth schedule.
