Delhi Tops in Rate of Redressal of Consumer Grievances

New Delhi, Jun 24 (UNI) Delhi has earned the distinction of having the highest percentage of decided cases in State Consumer Commission and its nine District Consumer Forum.

Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit disclosed this after presiding over a review meeting of Department of Consumer Affairs.

State Consumer Affairs Minister Raj Kumar Chauhan was also present at the meeting.

Out of 1,64,153 cases filed in District Fora 1,53,311 had been decided whereas 10,842 were under consideration. The combined percentage of decided cases was 93.40.

The State Commission had decided 5,010 complaints out of 5,858 filed. 848 complaints were under consideration. The rate of disposal was 85.5 per cent.

In respect of appeals, 17,123 had been decided out of 18,803 filed in the State Commission. 1,680 appeals were still under consideration. The rate of disposal of appeals came to 91.10 per cent.

Ms Dikshit expressed satisfaction over functioning of consumer grievances redressal mechanism, which had helped a lot in safe guarding rights of consumers.

Delhi probably ranked first in rate of redressal of consumer grievances in the country.
