Visakhapatnam, Jun 24 (UNI) Chartered Accountants should not confine themselves to traditional practice but should venture into related associated areas in this era of globalisation, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) National President T N Manoharan said today.

Talking to newspersons after inaugurating the two-day ICAI regional conference here, he said the ICAI should not produce sub-standard professionals.

He said the ICAI had five regional centres and 106 branches across the country.

With a view to establish state-of-the-art infrastructure in major centers, the ICAI had already acquired land in Hyderabad and Mumbai and these centers would conduct research activities to provide training for its members.

He said a new chapter of ICAI was opened in Kuwait in April.

Speaking on the occasion Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) Chairman and Managing Director Y V Sivasagar Rao said in the present scenario Charted Accountants ceased to exist as mere statisticians and emerged as strategists.
