Campaigning for 2nd phase of LB polls reaches peak in UT

Pondicherry, June 24 (UNI) With only one more day left for electioneering, campaigning for the second phase of Local Body elections in the Union Territory of Pondicherry has reached its peak.

All political parties and a good number of Independents were engaged in door-to-door campaigning.

AICC secretary Sudhakar Reddy along with Chief Minister N Rangasamy and others had canvassed for the Congress and it's alliance candidates. While former Tamil Nadu ministers Madhusudanan and Thalavai Sundaram were canvassing for the AIADMK candidates, CPI (M) Tamil Nadu state secretary N Varadarajan canvassed for the party candidates today.

Elections to the Pondicherry and Ozhukarai municipalities and Villianur commune panchayts would decide the fate of over 1104 candidates, including ten for the post of chairman of both the municipalities.

The Congress candidate is taking on the AIADMK in the Ozhukarai municipality while the DMK is locking horns with the AIADMK in Pondicherry municipality.
