Army foils militant's bid to cross LoC four times
Jammu, June 24 (UNI) At least four attempts of infiltration bid by militants were foiled by security forces at Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district this week.
Colonel Shiva Bhardwaj, Commander of 'Ghatak Unit' of 13 Sikh Regiment, who foiled the attempt of infiltration, told mediapersons at Nagrota Army base, ''that our jawans are fully alert to prevent militants from entering our territory.'' He also displayed the arms and ammunition, including three AK rifles, five magazines, 130 rounds of ammunition, three pistols, five mines, 28 detonators, 30 hand grenades, 28 antennas, two satellites phones, five radio sets and six wireless sets, which was recovered yesterday from militants posession at Rani nallah forward Balakote post in Poonch district.
Col Bhardwaj said the troops noticed a group of six militants sneaking into Indian side from Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) around midnight of June 22 and 23.
''The militant entered in our territory upto 300 meters. When our ambush team challenged them, they started firing but later militants escaped back into PoK,'' he added.
Defence pro-Colonel Badola said the militants have tried at least three times to enter into Indian side through this point and once from Mendhar, within a week.
