4 men including ruling SP leader killed in clash

Sultanpur, June 24 (UNI) Four persons, including a ruling Samajwadi Party (SP) block pramukh and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) district president, were killed when two rival groups clashed allegedly over contract business rivalry in Sultanpur town today.

Three others including Sitakund police outpost in charge O P Singh were also grievously wounded in the attack.

Later, an irate mob damaged the vehicle of District Magistrate Veena, who had rushed to the spot following the bloody clash.

Faizabad division DIG Prashant Kumar said the two sides had a skirmish yesterday night at a function. The armed rivals again clashed over the issue near the court premises this morning.

SP block pramukh from Kudebhar Anand Singh alias Bobby, his aide Jayant Singh, RJD leader Narendra Singh and Lalai Yadav were killed on the spot.

Many licensed and unlicensed firearms were also seized from the spot.

Meanwhile, police and Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) jawans had been deployed in the area.

A flag march led by Ms Veena and police superintendent Vijay Bhatia was later taken out in the town.
