Two militants among 3 killed, police constable injured in Kashmir

Sriangar, June 23 (UNI) Two militants were among three people killed while ultras shot at and wounded a Jammu and Kashmir police head constable in the valley today, official sources said.

They said militants shot at and critically wounded a head constable Mohammad Shafi at Naaz crossing near here this afternoon.

He was immediately shifted to a hospital.

A defence ministry spokesman said that troops of 50 Rashitriya Rifles (RR) conducted search operation at Khrew in the south Kashmir district of Pulwama today following inforamtion that some militants were hiding there.

However, when the troops were sealing the area, militants opened fire and also hurled grenades. The fire was returned and in the ensuing gun battle one militant was killed. One A K rifle, four magzines and four hand grenades were recovered from the slain militant.

Security force also gunned down another militant in similar operation at Machoo in the central Kashmir district of Badgam today.

One A K rifle and other arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militant.

A dead body was also recovered at village Keller in south Kashmir district of Anantnag today.
