Two arrested for theft of gold from jewellery

Palakkad, June 23 (UNI) The police today arrested two persons in connection with the theft of gold ornaments worth Rs 1.5 crore from the Alukkas Jewellery here on June 18.

The arrested were identified as Sasikumar (28), an employee of the jewellery, and his friend Sucheendran (27), both hailing from Mannarkkad.

District Superintendent of Police Sparjan Kumar told reporters that the stolen ornaments weighing 14.5 kg and Rs 35,000 in cash were recovered from Sasikumar's office.
