TDP to fight govt on voter's list in the courts
Hyderabad, Jun 23 (UNI) Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president and former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today said the TDP would fight 'legally' against the Congress government on the deletion of the names of TDP activists and sympathisers from electoral rolls in the state.
Mr Naidu told reporters here the TDP would take steps after the High Court's decision on deletion of voters from the electoral rolls, on June 27. TDP activists were finding deletion of voters at every village, which would be submitted to the District Collector and the State Election Commission (EC) by state leaders before the polls.
Urging the EC to permit all party observers and independent observers to oversee the poll to ensure it was free and fair, he alleged police were foisting false cases against TDP contestants and threatening them.
Alleging the Congress-led state government had failed in all fronts including allocation of funds to minority welfare and BC scholarships and that prices of essential commodities had increased, Mr Naidu questioned 'On what basis will the people vote in favour of the Congress in the ensuing local body elections?'.
