16 litres of liquid found in youth's abdomen

Jamshedpur, June 23 : It was a tough job for a doctor, who had to drain out about 16 litres of fluid from the abnormally inflated abdomen of a 25-year-old tribal youth, admitted at a private nursing home at Adityapur here.

The youth, Lobo Bodra, a resident of Bandhua village in Seraikela-Kharsawn district, has been suffering from a liver ailment.

'The fluid got collected in the abdomen due to malfunctioning of the liver,' said Dr Ashok Kumar, who took three days to extract the accumulated fluid from the patient's abdomen.

Dr Kumar said the liver had enlarged ten times more than a normal one and it was a challenge for the medical professionals to bring back the organ to normal condition.
