Samsung to double capacity of Noida facility

Chandigarh, June 23 (UNI) Digital technology leader Samsung India today said it will double the production capacity of LCD monitors at its Noida facility to five lakh units per annum from 2.5 lakh units per annum this year.

''The company is targeting a 200 percent growth in its LCD monitor sales this year, so it is enhancing the production capacity of its LCD manufacturing facility in Noida from 2.5 lakh units per annum last year to around five lakh units per annum this year,'' Samsung India Vice President (IT) Sanjay Sharma said.

Speaking at the launch of the 19 inch wide format LCD and Eye Fresh Technology (EFT) monitors, he added, ''We expect LCD Monitors to contribute 20 percent by volume and 35 per cent by value to our total monitor sales in this year.'' The company also announced plans to introduce wide format LCD monitors in the 20 and 21 inch screens in India in the third quarter of this year.

''Given the growing popularity of the 19 inch, LCD monitors as well as the wide screen format monitors on a worldwide basis, we are introducing our wide format LCD Monitors in the 19 inch and above screen sized segments in India'', Samsung India Dy Managing Director R Zutshi said here.
