Rubber plantation workers strike called off
Thiruvananthapuram, June 23 (UNI) the 29-day-old strike by workers in rubber plantations in Kerala was called off today following a settlement reached between the plantation managements and labour representatives.
As per the settlement, the workers would get an advance of 50 per cent of the amount due to them on the basis of the minimum wage notification issued by the state government. Action taken against the workers would also be withdrawn.
The settlement was reached at a conference held in the presence of Labour Minister P K Gurudasan, Industries Minister Elamaram Kareem and Food and Civil Supplies Minister C Divakaran.
