New Delhi, June 23 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party today demanded the Government seek the advice of the Chief Election Commissioner in regard to the allegations against EC Naveen Chawla.

Talking to newspersons, party spokesman Prakash Javadekar said CEC B B Tandon, in his submission before the Supreme Court, in regard to the case filed by Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Jaswant Singh against Mr Chawla, had said that he would give his advice to the Government, if sought. In this case, the Government was duty bound to ask the CEC's advice on the matter.

He said the BJP had been demanding action against Mr Chawla for quite some time and submitted before President APJ Abdul Kalam a petition signed by more than 200 MPs in which it had alleged that Mr Chawla had misused his official position by accepting funds from Congress MPs for the trust, operated by his wife.
