Randhawa tied 41st, Shiv Kapur tied 81st in Johnnie Walker

Gleneagles, Jun 23 (UNI) Jyoti Randhawa's sedate opening round of one-under 72 earned him a share of the 41st place while compatriot Shiv Kapur battled to a 74 to finish tied 81st in the Johnnie Walker Championship here.

Randhawa, the former Asian Tour number one, carded four birdies against three bogeys and ended the day in tied 41st position.

A 10th tee starter, Shiv Kapur, playing on a sponsor's invite here, slotted three birdies in his first nine, apart from a bogey on the 13th. But he lost the plot after taking the turn and a trio of bogey undid all the good work for the Indian for his maiden appearance at The Open Championship next month.

Big Dane Thomas Bjorn set a blistering pace with a 65 to snatch the first round lead in the European Tour event.
