Mulayam to honour RSS workers in name of MISA: Cong

Lucknow, June 23 (UNI) The Congress today alleged that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav was trying to honour RSS workers on June 26 during a conference of the Emergency affected people.

''As most people jailed under Maintenance of Internal Security Act (MISA) during emergency belonged to RSS, the conference is being held to honour them,'' claimed state Congress chief spokesperson Akhilesh Pratap Singh.

Presenting a contrast, Mr Singh claimed that while during Emergency, criminals were lodged in jail, under the present UP dispensation, people opposed to crime were languishing behind bars.

''Of the total arrests made during emergency, 80 per cent belonged to the RSS,'' he said adding that the conference would prove the SP-BJP nexus outside the Vidhan Sabha.

Earlier, the BJP had also opposed the proposed conference of the Emergency affected people by demanding that the SP should first withdraw support to the Congress government at the centre, ''which was behind the Black Law''.
