MRPL bags Best Exporter Award from FKCCI
Bangalore, June 23 (UNI) The Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry has conferred the Best Exporter Award on Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL) for being the highest exporter from the State.
MRPL, which had now come into the fold of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, was in the forefront of exports of value-added petro-products in the country.
The best exporter awards was constituted this year by the FKCCI to encourage exports from Karnataka, which stood at Rs 80,000 crore last year. While the IT-based exports stood at Rs 37,000 crore, the remaining was commodities exports, FKCCI President S Babu told reporters here today.
He said that apart from exporters, the Chambers would also honour bankers and export facilitation organisations at an awards ceremony to be held in the city on June 27. It had received 110 entries for the awards, of which 30 were selected.
Infosys led the field among non-SSI exportors, which included GE Medical Systems (I) Ltd and Kudremukh Iron Ore Co Ltd. In the district level, MMTC, with a plant in Bellary district, and JK Industries, which owned Vikrant Tyres in Mysore, were the prominent winners.
FKCCI International Business Development Committee Chairman J R Bangera said the chambers had launched EXIM Club, an exclusive cell for promotion of international trade. The professionally managed EXIM Club provided dedicated services to exporters and importers in the State in the areas of training, counselling and market information dissemination. It was planned to effectively utilise the MoUs signed by the FKCCI with 32 foreign chambers of commerce in 20 countries for helping the trade to expand their global operations.
