Man gets 7-yr RI for attacking and trying to rob couple

Mumbai, June 23 (UNI) A local court today sentenced a man to seven-year rigorous imprisonment (RI) for attempting to rob a couple and attacking them.

Additional Sessions Judge M C Khadake said, accused Mukesh Vilas Chandravanshi (25) was held guilty under sections 452 (wrongful restraint), 394 (dacoity) and 398 (attempt to commit robbery) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) of attacking a couple on August nine, last year near Jaslok hospital in South Mumbai, while they resisted his move to rob them of their belongings.

The accused was arrested after three days of the incident, and after hearing both the parties, the court today sentenced him to seven-year RI, alongwith a fine of Rs 500, failing which he will have to undergo RI for another three months.
