Karnataka Governor nominates members to SZC
Bangalore, June 23 (UNI) Karnataka Governor T N Chaturvedi today nominated Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and two of his Cabinet colleagues as members of the Southern Zonal Council.
The nominations of Mr Kumaraswamy, Primary and Secondary Education Minister Basavaraj S Horatti and Higher Education Minister D H Shankaramurthy were made under the State Re-organisation Act, an official release here said.
The objectives of the Zonal Councils included resolution of conflicts, if any, between the Centre and the States and amongst States through discussions and arresting the growth of acute State consciousness, regionalism, linguism and particularistic tendencies.
The Southern Zonal Council consisted of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and the union territory of Pondicherry.
