Industrialists, Chambers hail state budget
Kolkata, Jun 23 (UNI) The industrialists and Chambers of Commerce today hailed the Budget for 2006-07 presented by state Finance Minister Asim Dasgupta in the state assembly.
"It is commendable that the rate of growth of the State Domestic Product (SDP) was targetted at 8.5 per cent in the current fiscal," Indian Chamber of Commerce president S K Bangur said here today.
" The focus on agriculture, education and healthcare demonstrates long term strategy to leverage the state's competitive advantages," Bangur said.
" Emphasis on social welfare, industrial development, universalisation of primary education, education, healthcare and employment generation will have a lasting effect on the state's economy," Bharat Chamber of Commerce president Santosh Rungta said.
Federation of West Bengal Trade Associations chairman Mahesh Kumar Singhania thanked the state Finance Minister for simplifying procedural hurdles, withdrawal of purchase tax, reduction of stamp duty and relief for professional tax payers.
