Patna, June 23 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today said the country can not develop ignoring Bihar and suggested the Centre to take steps for improving the electricity scenario.

Inaugurating the underground cabling work, Mr Kumar said against an average national per person consumption of 600 units, Bihar consumes only 75 units. He said if the plans for Bihar were made keeping in mind the consumption scenario, it would be sheer injustice to the state.

National per person average consumption is supposed to increase to 1000 units in near future, he said and demanded the Centre to extend financial assistance for establishing projects aimed at increasing the power generation.

Mr Kumar said the government was determined at improving the electricity scenario, for which the modernisation of Kanti and Barauni Thermal power stations had been handed over to National Thermal Power Corporation.

Bihar deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi said majority of the problems would be solved following underground cabling.

Later Chairman of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited R P Singh told newspersons that the corporation had taken up the task of underground cabling in Patna and the local government had provided full security to the corporation.
