High Court orders inquiry into HPCPMT 'bungling'

Shimla, June 23 (UNI) The Himachal High Court today ordered an inquiry into the alleged bungling in the Himachal Pradesh Combined Pre-Medical Test (HPCPMT), conducted by Himachal Pradesh University on May 26, for admission to MBBS and BDS courses in the state.

The inquiry committee, comprising CID DIG O C Thakur, Shimla Superintendent of Police A P Singh and Deputy Superintendent of Police Arvind Negi, would conduct a thorough probe into the entire matter and submit its report to the court within a week.

Depending on the findings of the report, the court would take further action in the matter, a division bench of the High Court comprising Chief Justice V K Gupta and Justice Deepak Gupta ruled.

The bench told the Deputy Advocate General to communicate today's order to members of the committee, Chief Secretary and Director General of Police so that the committee could start the assigned from tommorrow.

Today's order came on a writ petition filed by Action Committee of Aggrieved Students and Parents alleging that selection process in the test was so vitiated that the meritorious and outstanding candidates were put to disadvantage and deprived of their chances to find themselves in merit list.
