High Court accepts case on deletion of names from rolls
Kolkata, Jun 23 (UNI) Calcutta High Court judge Soumitra Pal today accepted a case, filed by one Mubarak Mishtry and 33 others against deletation of names from the voters' list in the state.
Appearing on behalf of the petitioners, lawyer Idris Ali alleged that the state government had deleted the names from the electoral rolls at Bagpukur village under Basirhat police station of North 24 Parganas district and described it as "political motivated." However, their names were enlisted at Jafarpur village because they were supporters of other political parties, he alleged.
After hearing, Mr Pal ordered all the petitioners for producing ration cards on the next day of hearing on Tuesday.
